During a quick stroll during my lunch the other day I stumbled upon this art exhibit near Madison Square Park. As a purveyor of coffee cozies, I felt it was my responsibility to snap a few pics to share with everyone. The exhibit is done by artist Gwyneth Leech and is called Hypergraphia: The Cup Drawings. Because the exhibit is an an open space with glass windows (right below the Flat Iron building,) the cups look as though they’re suspended in mid-air, floating around one another in a space that’s zero-gravity. The coolest part? From Tuesdays – Saturdays, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., you can see Gwyneth work on her cup drawings. The artwork she’s painted on each cup is painstakingly beautiful. I can only imagine the number of hours that has gone into this exhibit – plus the number of ideas she had to generate for each cup to be unique! On days when New York City really gets the best of me (i.e. subway vomit,) it’s finds like this that make me smile and appreciate where I am.
Check out Gwyneth’s own commentary about her exhibit over on Gwyenth’s Full Brew.

Those are great Patty. Yet another reason to go visit my favorite building in the city.

Thank you for the super feedback on Hypergraphia at the Flatiron. The installation continues to grow and change as I add new cup drawings, and the exhibit has now been extended through February 18th. Do stop by again!
Gweneth thank you for stopping by and for your kind words! I’ll definitely be back to say “hello.”
